Sen. Troy McKeown SD 24
ISSUES
THE CONSTITUTION
When I enlisted, I swore an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I will uphold that promise at all times.
I will always defend freedom of speech and the Constitutional values connected to it. The values and liberties enshrined in that document shall always be protected and they shall never expire.
THE 2ND AMENDMENT
I believe there is no other God-given right that protects all of our Constitutional rights more than the 2nd Amendment. This right shall never be infringed upon.
PRO LIFE
I stand beside the life of the unborn; the most vulnerable in our society, who are denied every chance to live in this beautiful country.
I will fight for every precious life, gifted to us from God. As lawmakers, it is our duty to never deny the right to life to anyone.
SMALL BUSINESS
As the owner of Don's Supermarkets in Gillette and Wright, I know how crucially important small businesses are to our local economy, they are the backbone of a free market.
I will fight with our business owners in this state and will do everything in my power to reduce the red tape and help them stay afloat. We need them more than ever during this COVID-19 crisis to restore our economy and bring back jobs.
TAXATION
As we all know, moderate taxation is necessary to keep this country and state running.
However, raising taxes or introducing new taxes such as a grocery tax, a corporate tax, an income tax, and a road usage tax is not the answer. I will fight for a budget that is set on our existing taxes and if possible, reduce those taxes to ease the weight on our already burdened population.
Oil, Gas and Coal
Our local economy depends on natural resources and it is our duty to protect them. Our state was blessed with great natural resources.
I vow to protect the extractive industries from any attempts to destroy them. Any red tape that reduces the effectiveness of this sector has to be eliminated and we need to increase the output of this sector to help our state overcome the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Law Enforcement
In these troubling times, we need to have a strong law enforcement presence. Our men and women in blue are doing a tremendous job keeping our communities safe.
I will ensure that our law enforcement agencies in this state have all the resources they need to complete their mission. Wyoming is a safe state and it needs to stay this way!
Military
As a combat veteran with 27 years of military duty under my belt, I know what it means to defend this beautiful country. I believe in a strong military being able to complete their mission with all the resources available.
I will fight for our military members to guarantee they receive the best support they can get. We should never forget those who have protected our freedoms and liberties.
Education
Our state offers great education to our children and our public schools are one of the best in this nation. I want to thank the teachers and caretakers who teach, educate and help our kids grow up.
I will ensure that our children receive all possible options to acquire the best education. Additionally, I will make sure that our teachers and classrooms are protected at all costs and receive the funds necessary to complete their critical task of educating our future generations.
Voter ID
In this day and age, we need ID to donate blood, purchase liquor or cigarettes, open a bank account, drive a car or obtain insurance for it, or board an airplane. Yet we need none to elect officials that decide our fate and the future of our state. This hallowed process must be protected.
I will ensure our residents' right to vote and that their vote counts.
